    RATA's 7500kVA Resistive and Reactive Mobile Load Bank System is a high-power testing solution engineered for large generator sets, power systems, marine diesel generators, gas turbine generators, and UPS systems.


    The system delivers 6,000kW of active power and 4,500kvar of reactive power, with an adjustable power factor ranging from PF 0.8 to 1.0. It provides independent control of the resistive and reactive loads, together with modular forced-air cooling and dual power supplies featuring automatic fast transfer for the cooling fans. Equipped with PLC-based intelligent control, the system incorporates comprehensive protection functions, including temperature, airflow, short-circuit, overvoltage, over- and under-frequency, insulation, and smoke protection. Supporting steady-state, transient, step-load, and automatic testing modes, it can simultaneously acquire, record, and analyze test parameters while generating detailed test reports. This provides a safe, accurate, and traceable solution for large-scale power system performance verification.

    Why do resistors and reactors need independent switching?
    Independent switching allows testers to control active and reactive loads separately. For example, the active load can be maintained at 6000 kW while the reactive power is adjusted, so as to test the operating performance of generators under different power‑factor conditions. The specification explicitly requires independent switching functionality for resistors and reactors.

    Why does this system adopt 6.6 kV input with 380 V load?
    The high‑voltage power supply is stepped down to 380 V via the high‑voltage switchgear and dry‑type transformer, and power is then dissipated by low‑voltage resistive and inductive loads. This configuration is compatible with large‑scale 6.6 kV generator sets, while mature low‑voltage load modules are utilized to realize high‑power energy dissipation.

    Why is high‑speed transient data acquisition required for the load bank?
    When a generator is subjected to sudden load application, its voltage and frequency cannot return to steady state instantaneously and will undergo dynamic variations. The minimum time resolution for transient data acquisition of the system reaches 40 μs. It can capture variations of voltage, frequency and other parameters during sudden load‑on / sudden load‑off processes, and analyze peak values, minimum values and recovery time to evaluate the dynamic response capability of generators.

    What generator tests can be performed with the load bank?
    The system supports: steady‑state test, voltage regulation test, frequency regulation test, fluctuation test, sudden load‑on test, sudden load‑off test, continuous‑operation test, and harmonic analysis.
    It can be used to evaluate the output capacity, stability and dynamic response performance of generator sets under various load conditions.
